There is a splendid hiking trail in the neighborhood of Sams Ponds called the East Mountain Trail. These mountains rock, just explore all the amusing things to do in the Central Cascade Range. Sams Ponds is a good location to visit for more than one day, Silver Fox RV Park is a good location to camp nearby, and going for a hike on the Cold Spring Trail is always a brilliant       adventure. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. If you need a location to stay Best Western Sandy Inn is a great choice; you can run the rapids of Clackamas River - South Fork. The Central Cascade Range scenery is always beautiful. If you want a splendid time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Central Cascade Range. Looking for something in close proximity to Sams Ponds? Slow Springs Reservoir is close at hand, and North Fork Dam has glorious                  water scenery. For the duration of the summer months highs here at Sams Ponds get into the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Sams Ponds are in the 30's. Sams Ponds is a wet location that gets a large amount of rainfall; of all the months in a year December is the one with the most rain; the driest month is July. A pleasant place for whitewater paddling in the vicinity of Sams Ponds is Eagle Creek; on a splendid day you can take a hike along the High Camp Trail. This lake is so wonderful. A perfect close by hotel is Howard Johnson Gresham, of course you could also check out North Fork Reservoir while you're here; it's not far at all.
