Why not stop by Salamander Lake if you're passing through these parts. This lake is so wonderful. Take a hike on the Upper Chetco Trail, and you'll locate a beautiful lake called Valen Lake. So much exciting stuff in the Coast Ranges, just amazing. Hiking along the Chetco Peak Trail is tremendous fun, and get your pulse rate up on the great whitewater of Illinois River. Salamander Lake frequently gets much rainfall; through the month of December you get the most rain around here, and July on the other hand is the driest. Through the months of
summer highs here at Salamander Lake reach the 70's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 50's. Through the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 50's while Salamander Lake overnight low temperatures all through the winter are in the 30's. This lake is one of the great places here in the Coast Ranges.
