The peak of Cinder Cone can be seen from Russ Lake; Mt. Hood Ski Bowl is a great local ski area. A trip to Olallie Meadow invigorates the spirit. There's so much to do here at Russ Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Trout Lake Campground is a fine site for that. For the period of the summertime at Russ Lake temperatures are commonly in the 70's; the night is a tad cooler       of course, usually in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Russ Lake. Russ Lake is a wet site that gets a great deal of rainfall; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest month is July. That right there is a lot of cool things already but it goes on, the Central Cascade Range has it all. You can run the rapids of Marion Creek right next door to Russ Lake, and hiking                  is a popular thing to do around Russ Lake; Boundary Trail is a magnificent local trail. This lake is so wonderful. Clackamas River is a tremendous whitewater spot in the vicinity of Russ Lake, and good hiking is available along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 22. This lake is so wonderful. You'll in fact wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing things in the Central Cascade Range. A pretty lake like First Lake near Russ Lake is a delightful place to visit; lakes are such calm sites, why not explore Long Lake. I don't want to stop, cause I'm havin' a great time here at Russ Lake. If you came to camp Lemiti Campground is a splendid site to do that, and there's splendid hiking along the Blue Lake Camas Prairie Trail.
