    A visit to Rhody Lake is always a good idea. The high level of rainfall makes Rhody Lake a relatively wet location; the month with most of the rain is December while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Rhody Lake is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Camp Dakota is a glorious local campground, and there are some wonderful whitewater spots on Santiam River - Little North. Throughout the summertime months at Rhody Lake highs are  
   commonly in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 40's, and night lows in the 30's for Rhody Lake.
Fibre Creek is a wonderful local stream; while you're here, you could also stop at pretty Fibre Lake. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Rhody Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Cascade Sports Camp is a good site
 
               for that, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Pine Crest Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay Best Western Sandy Inn is a brilliant choice, and while you're here at Rhody Lake it's a glorious idea to stop by Gawley Basin.
Now, you may imagine that's lots but there's even more amusing things to do here in the Central Cascade Range. Take a hike on the Baty Silver King Trail; a spree to Rhody Lake wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Mud Springs. This lake is located in the wonderful Central Cascade Range. What a site this is for outdoors folks.
Picture Point is something you shouldn't miss if you're here at Rhody Lake, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Mollala River - South Fork. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool things in the neighborhood of Rhody Lake. Hiking along the High Camp Trail is delightful fun, and you'll discover a picturesque lake called Butte Lake. And if that's not enough there's a heap more entertaining things to do in the Central Cascade Range. The peak of Dog Rock can be seen from Rhody Lake, and enjoy a round of golf at Elkhorn Valley Golf Course.

Pine Crest Trail
...o find that S. Mollala Forest Rd narrows and now effectively ends. Actually, it continues, but the road is impeded by a gate sporting many 'no trespassing' signs and marking it 'private property'. When we got to this point, we were just about to turn around and go home when another car drove past us onto the road. Having driven for several hours to get there, we dared to venture further, and followed the car despite the many warnings on the gate. Now, if you are reading this please heed my advice... never do what we did. Do not try to find this trail. Listen to signs. They are usually there for a reason. We could not locate the next road to turn on because all the old street signs had been removed and all of the old turn-offs warned away the unauthorized with huge boulders blocking the road, locked gates and more no-trespassing signs. After taking some pictures of beautifully dilapidated country houses, we decided to call it a day and return home empty handed. However, when we got to the gate we came in through, we found that while we were away, someone had closed and locked it. We w...

I've seen the Volcano Trail on old maps but I didn't know it still existed. Part of it has been bypassed by logging roads. I believe it went to the old blowout shelter and the suspension bridge that is still there....

French Creek Trail

The French Creek Trail has been bypassed by logging roads at lower elevations. The trail now starts at about 4000 ft. on the way to Byar's Peak. There are some boulders on the road, one in particular had barely enough room to get by. Great views of Detroit area and Three Sisters from the ridge....
