Get yourself into a kayak and hit Kalama River; swamps like Virginia Lake close to Rainbow Lake make for glorious locations to go to. The high level of precipitation makes Rainbow Lake a rather wet spot; most of the rain falls all through December, and the driest month is July. Just can't get enough of Rainbow Lake. A fine site to camp here at Rainbow Lake is Reeder Beach RV Park, and getting to Crabapple Creek from Rainbow Lake is painless. Here at Rainbow

| | Lake there are plenty of people from Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton, and a wonderful lake like Moar Lake is a wonderful site to go to. Summer at Rainbow Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are mostly in the 40's with temperatures at Rainbow Lake dipping down into the 30's during winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. is a brilliant place to get some rest, and Rainbow Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Scappose Airport County Park is a fine local campground. If you need a location to stay Courtyard Portland Hillsboro is a great
choice, and Rocky Point is painless to spot from Rainbow Lake. Do go to Sand Lake near Rainbow Lake, it's a gorgeous lake, and Fort William Bend is a good site to take a look at while in the area.

Personally if you're going to a lake in the mountains you should be CAMPING. And there are plenty of sites to do so, both reserved and not. There are great hiking trails and it's also full of fish and crawdads. Boating is a must if possible.... |
