During your stay at Placer Lake do take a look at nearby Holly Beach, and dry warm beds await you at Shamrock Lodgettes. This lake is one of the great places here in the Coast Ranges. Throughout the summer months highs here at Placer Lake reach the 60's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 50's with temperatures at Placer Lake dipping down into the 30's through winter nights. Life's too short

This place, Placer Lake, it completely has so much outdoors entertaining stuff. to spend more than a day at, Beachside State Park is a great local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Drift Creek, and you can go for a hike on
the Horse Creek Trail. Placer Lake typically gets a good deal of rainfall; December is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month of the year is July. So much enjoyable stuff in the Coast Ranges, just unbelievable. There's some flowing water close by, Annice Creek is a stream you can visit during your stay.

We had so much fun that we are going back there again this August and it's only been a year since we were there. We went to the Yaquina Head Lighthouse... Amust see! We climbed all the way to the top and looked out over the ocean and what a view. We saw all kinds of wildlife while camping at Beverly Beach State Park: raccoons they came right up to us waiting for us to feed them and a beaver carrying a tree limb gave us a real spook!
It was dark and we were trying to find our one and only flashlight and while digging for it in our car, we heard some weird brushing sounds along the roadway and when we found the light and put it to where the noise was coming from, we saw a huge beaver carrying a tree limb off into the forrest. We were so shocked at how huge he was! He was the size of a small bear. At first I thought it WAS a bear but my husband said ''no, Baby, don't be scared... It's just a beaver and he wont hurt you. ''
