     Painted Hills Reservoir is a nice lake to visit. This lake is one of the great places here in the Blue Mountains. During the warmest time of the year at Painted Hills Reservoir highs are ordinarily in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Painted Hills Reservoir sink into the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are  
   perfect; Nelson Reservoir is a lake that's in the vicinity of Painted Hills Reservoir, and folks from Prineville love to come here.
Painted Hills Reservoir is typically a relatively dry place; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is July. An exciting thing to stop by in the neighborhood of Painted Hills Reservoir is Painted Hills Dam. There's so much to do here at Painted Hills Reservoir that you need to
 
               camp here for a while, Carrol Campground is a great site for that. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors fun stuff the area close to Painted Hills Reservoir has to offer. The top of Painted Hills is easily distinguished from Painted Hills Reservoir; Brown Grotto is another fine location to stop at close by.
That right there is plenty of exciting things already but it goes on, the Blue Mountains has it all. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always check out nearby Slide Lake, and it's a magnificent idea to explore Bear Creek. Be careful coming to the Blue Mountains, you might not ever want to return home again. In case you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on John Day River, and if you came to camp Canyon Creek Campground is a magnificent spot to do that.
