Hit the slopes at Willamette Pass close by, and on a fine day you can take a hike along the Snowshoe Lake Trail. So much amusing stuff in the Central Cascade Range, just mind-boggling. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Mt. Bachelor. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Deschutes River offers some good whitewater; do have a look at Lodgepole Lake, it's a beautiful       lake. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing stuff in the Central Cascade Range. While you're here at Merle Lake you can take a hike along the Winopee Lake Trail, and Upper Campground is a good local campground. Why not camp at East Lake Resort and RV Parks since you're here at Merle Lake, and while you're here, you could also stop by charming Navaho Lake. Merle Lake is a wet location that gets a great deal of rain; the wettest month of the year is frequently                  December, that's the one that rains the most while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. The Cultus Lake Trail is a great hiking trail in close proximity to Merle Lake, and Pillar Peak is beautiful and can be made out from here. During the summertime months at Merle Lake highs are usually in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 40's. For the duration of the winter the highs are regularly in the 40's while Merle Lake night low temperatures through the winter are in the 20's.
