High temperatures at McDonald Pond all through the warm days of summer are in the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's; nighttime lows at McDonald Pond through the winter typically dip into the 30's. A magnificent close by hotel is Best Western Mill Creek Inn, and Franzen Dam is not far at all from McDonald Pond.       Battle Creek is a pretty stream that is worth a visit, and camping at Oregon Christian Convention is always a magnificent experience. Near McDonald Pond you stumble on a golf course called Battle Creek Golf Course, and a good location for whitewater paddling is Silver Creek. You'll hit upon a pretty lake called Franzen Reservoir near McDonald Pond, and Holiday Inn Express Salem (Oregon Capitol), Or is a great site to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful.                  Get your pulse rate up on the wonderful whitewater of Crabtree Creek, and camping is available at Forest Glen RV Resort Ltd. I can't stop, cause I'm havin' a magnificent time here at McDonald Pond. During your visit to McDonald Pond you'll meet some folks from Salem for sure; do visit Seclusia Reservoir, it's a beautiful lake.
