This lake is so wonderful. From McCaffery Pond you get a brilliant sight of Ace Williams Mountain; going for a hike on the Straight Creek Trail is always a wonderful adventure. Now, you may think that's a load but there's even more fun things to do here in the Central Cascade Range. A delightful lake like Sampson Lake near McCaffery Pond is a brilliant place to stop at, and why not       camp at Timber River Recreational Vehicle Park while you're here at McCaffery Pond. Go for a hike on the Rock Creek Trail, and there's whitewater on Rock Creek for all you adrenaline rush seekers. Summertime at McCaffery Pond comes with high temperatures in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's with temperatures at McCaffery Pond dipping down into the 30's through                  winter nights. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this spot. Near McCaffery Pond you discover the White Rock Trail which is a splendid hiking trail, and you can run the rapids of Umpqua River - North.
