Maxwell Pond is one of the lakes here in the Wallowa Mountains. And if that's not sufficient there's a lot more fun things to do in the Wallowa Mountains. Wallowa Valley Stay and wash is a great local campground, and there is a wonderful hiking trail close by called the Bear Creek Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Goebel's is a good spot to camp, and if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Crooked Trail. This lake

| | is so wonderful. This is a popular place for folks from La Grande. Now, you may imagine that's plenty but there's even more amusing stuff to do here in the Wallowa Mountains. Grande Ronde River has a great whitewater paddling spot close by; almost certainly you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Little Storm Lake is just a very short distance away. a hike along the Cougar Ridge Trail. For the period of the warmest time of the year highs here at Maxwell Pond get into the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with
highs in the 30's while Maxwell Pond night low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 20's. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Maxwell Pond. If you need a place to stay Best Western Rama Inn & Suites is a good
choice; if you've had enough of Maxwell Pond, Lostine Reservoir is close by. Some close by water includes Bear Creek, and Maxwell Pond is near Goebel Canyon which is beyond doubt worth checking out. It is very dried out here at Maxwell Pond mostly; the month with most of the snow is December; July is when it's the driest.
