The beauty of Lake Marie attracts many people from all around. All the water falling down from the sky makes Lake Marie a wet place; December is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is July. Get your pulse rate up on the glorious whitewater of Metolius River; you can never get enough of the good skiing at Hoodoo. Lake Marie is one of the lakes here in the Central Cascade Range. This location, the Central Cascade Range, has so much outdoors amusing things. it's a beautiful lake, and there are fine spots to discover along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 22. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Lake Marie has to offer, you can camp at Lemiti Campground, and there's
great hiking along the Cub Creek Trail. Summer at Lake Marie arrives with high temperatures in the 70's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 40's while
the cold winter nights at Lake Marie are in the 30's. If you go for the outdoors you'll go for it here in the Central Cascade Range. Don't leave Lake Marie without first going for a hike along the Blue Lake Camas Prairie Trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Marion Creek.

Jefferson Lake Trail
 | I just completed this trail with my German Shepherd and had a great time. We made Jefferson Lake in 4 hours, stayed the night and returned at a faster pace, making the trailhead in 3 hours. A big portion of the trail is overgrown with 5ft. tall plant life, making the trail impossible to see. I used a compass to stay on course and bushwhack for about 3 miles, then picked up the trail again. It's obvious this trail hasn't received any attention from the forest service for some time now,so plan on using your nav skills on this one. We encountered a braver-than-average black bear while encamped at Jefferson Lake, and had difficulty finding a suitable place to hang a bear bag since all the trees are limbless due to a forest fire. My dog, Sigg, is a good bear deterrant and took the night shift guarding the food bag. If you are considering this trail, start early enough so you're not walking in the dark and bring some good jungle juice (deet). Bear bells may be useful as well. Hope this helps somebody!... |
