     This lake is so wonderful. Walter Flat is a great spot here at Malone Pool, and some close by water includes East Branch Lost River. Not far from Malone Pool, you'll stumble on Willow Valley Reservoir which is a beautiful lake, and you can stay the night at Willow Valley Campground. There's so much to do here at Malone Pool that you need to camp here for a while, Hawk's Nest is a great place for that; there's some attention-grabbing stuff to catch a sight of  
   at Malone Diversion Dam near Malone Pool.
And that's not everything there is to do here in the Southern Cascade Range. If time allows, Lava Beds National Monument is a national park worth visiting; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by nearby Threemile Reservoir. At Malone Pool you don’t see much rainfall; during the month of December you get the most snow around here, and July is the month with the least moisture. And if you're

This lake is one of the great places here in the Southern Cascade Range. During the days of summer at Malone Pool temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 40's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 30's; overnight lows in the 10's for Malone Pool.

The Hawks Nest is a nice and peaceful place to just go relax. We have been there twice and just love it. You are only 25 miles away from Medicine Lake & 15 mile from the Lava Beds. We visited other camp grounds and have not been treated half as nice as we have been here. Dave his wife made us feel like we were at home. We even reserved our spot for the next trip.
