What a nice lake Malarky Lake is. Dairy Creek is near Malarky Lake and is always a bliss to have a look at, and there are some glorious whitewater spots on Kalama River. Malarky Lake is not the only place close by, Seal Lake is a close by lake, and why not stop by a swamp like Crane Slough since you're here at Malarky Lake. Malarky Lake is a delightful place to visit for more than one day, Sauvie Cove Store and RV Park is a delightful place to camp nearby; if you've had enough of Malarky Lake, Grassy Lake is nearby. Lewis River - East Fork
 | 16 miles away *WARNING* Lewisville Pk to DayBreak on July 2, 2009. Water very low and very rocky using tubes and raft. Had to get out often and dislodge from rocks or walk over river rock. Had to walk from 1/4 sign to Daybreak all the way out and was VERY UNHAPPY. Walk was actually about a mile to parking area over river rock and then very narrow trail. Trails not marked if you have to get out and walk because water was TOO low (only a few inches deep). Would have appreciated uptodate info at booth at Lewisville entrance. Was told rafting was fine to Daybreak. Trip took 5.5 hours and was told it would take 2.5.... |

 | 19 miles away Don't Go all the way to wilsonville for a hotel. if you head in towards portland on the 26, there are plenty of hotels from government camp to welches. Personally if you're going to a lake in the mountains you should be CAMPING. And there are plenty of sites to do so, both reserved and not. There are great hiking trails and it's also full of fish and crawdads. Boating is a must if possible.... |
