Lyons Log Pond is a rather wet place mostly with a large amount of rain; December is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is July. This lake is so wonderful. It's always pleasant to have a look at Stout Creek Falls, and glide down the rapids of Thomas Creek in a kayak. Rodeway Inn & Suites is a perfect spot to get some rest; there's tremendous hiking along the Crabtree Lake Trail. And that's not all the things to do here in the

| | Central Cascade Range. Why not camp at Taylor Park while you're here at Lyons Log Pond, and Little North Santiam River is next to Lyons Log Pond and is always a diversion to explore. This lake is one of the great places here in the Central Cascade Range. This lake is so wonderful. John Neal Memorial County Park is a perfect local campground, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Lyons Log Pond; Pine Crest Trail is a good local trail. Just can't get | |

enough of the Central Cascade Range. While you're here at Lyons Log Pond, you could also check out beautiful Freres Log Ponds, and wonderful hiking is available along the Snow Peak Mill City Trail. This is no place for people who
don’t like to enjoy themselves. There's a forest here at Lyons Log Pond called Taylor Grove; Fox Valley is a brilliant place to spend some time. If you go for the outdoors, you'll go for Lyons Log Pond. Get soaked paddling on
Santiam River - Little North, and Lyons Log Pond is not far at all from Albany-Lebanon. Wilkes Reservoir is a nearby lake that you could visit, and after a long day outdoors Oregon Garden Resort is a brilliant place to spend a night
or two. During the summertime months highs here at Lyons Log Pond reach the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 40's with temperatures at Lyons Log Pond dipping down into the 30's through winter nights.

Pine Crest Trail
 | 16 miles away ... S. Mollala Forest Rd narrows and now effectively ends. Actually, it continues, but the road is impeded by a gate sporting many 'no trespassing' signs and marking it 'private property'. When we got to this point, we were just about to turn around and go home when another car drove past us onto the road. Having driven for several hours to get there, we dared to venture further, and followed the car despite the many warnings on the gate. Now, if you are reading this please heed my advice... never do what we did. Do not try to find this trail. Listen to signs. They are usually there for a reason. We could not locate the next road to turn on because all the old street signs had been removed and all of the old turn-offs warned away the unauthorized with huge boulders blocking the road, locked gates and more no-trespassing signs. After taking some pictures of beautifully dilapidated country houses, we decided to call it a day and return home empty handed. However, when we got to the gate we came in through, we found that while we were away, someone had closed and locked it. We were trapped... |
