This lake is so wonderful. In the event that you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Sandy River, and if you need a spot to stay Resort at the Mountain is a wonderful choice. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in the Central Cascade Range. Timberline Lodge has brilliant slopes and a friendly staff, and not far from Lymp Reservoir you'll find Kloshe Chuck Reservoir which is a wonderful lake. Lymp Reservoir

Hood Ski Bowl, and don't leave Lymp Reservoir without first going for a hike along the Bonanza Trail. For the duration of the warmest time of the year at Lymp Reservoir temperatures are ordinarily in the 70's, and the overnight is
rather cooler of course, commonly in the 50's. Highs throughout the wintertime are usually in the 40's while Lymp Reservoir overnight low temperatures all through the winter are in the 30's. And that's not all you can do here at Lymp
Reservoir. A perfect close by hotel is Whispering Woods (Vri). There's so much to do here at Lymp Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Mount Hood Village is a splendid place for that. Lymp Reservoir gets a large
amount of water; of all the months in a year December is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is July. There are other places here than Lymp Reservoir, for example Henry Creek Reservoir, and Zigzag River is a splendid whitewater spot close by.

 | Have you been to the Bighorn campground site???While this is a beautiful pack-in, primitive site, it doesn't fit with your description. Before camping, take a hike on Nat. Forest Trail 742, without gear. After you've scoped the area, come back and stay. Even on Labor Day Weekend ('06) there were several campsites available in this dispersed camp area.... |

Little Ashes Lake
 | 16 miles away Since the previous post was negative, I was skeptical about fishing there. I sent a couple of hours fishing there at one of the few access spots to see how it fished. I was fortunate enough to land a trout about 27 inches long. Not to bad for a couple hours. Caught using a rooster tail spinner. Gotta give it a try....Little Ashes lake is a medium sized spillway from the Columbia River. There is not much public access to the lake. The lake is boundaried on the southwest side by Highway 14. and all the rest is Private property. No way to launch a boat, but I have float tubed it. There are no trails to hike around this lake. You won't want to swim in it since it is columbia river water. The fishing is unproductive as i fished it and never caught a single bass or trout, only sucker fish and perch. My advice is to just enjoy the sight of this lake, but venturing into it is a waste of time.... |
