Beautiful Little Vulcan Lake has much to offer visitors. Little Vulcan Lake is one of the lakes here in the Coast Ranges. So many exciting things in the Coast Ranges, just mind-blowing. Going for a hike on the Upper Chetco Trail is always a glorious adventure. Little Vulcan Lake mostly gets a lot of precipitation; all through December this area sees the most rain while July is frequently the driest month. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff

more to do in the vicinity of Little Vulcan Lake. A delightful site for whitewater paddling near Little Vulcan Lake is Illinois River, and if you came for an overnight stay Alfred A. Loeb is a fine location to camp. Through the long
summer days at Little Vulcan Lake highs are generally in the 60's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 50's with winter lows in the 40's overnight here at Little Vulcan Lake.

Illinois River Trail
 | 12 miles away ...Trail has TWO trailheads. The eastern trailhead is near Selma, OR. This is the one indicated on the map. There is also a western trailhead located in Agness OR. This trailhead is located at the end of Oak Flat Road. The Forest Service maintains a primitive campground there. This trailhead is approximately 4 miles from a small grocery store. There is also a private campground located within a quarter mile of the western trailhead. This campground is the Illinois River Lodge RV Park. The article mentions Brookings as being the nearest city on the western end. Actualy Gold Beach is closer than Bandon. Agness Oregon is a small town located near the western trailhead. Agness is a great three season recreation area. Hiking, swimming, rafting, kayaking and fishing are the main attractions. Agness has three restaurants open spring thru fall. There is also a choice of variuos overnight accommodations. As far as the weather is concerned on the Illinois River trail, my understanding is it is hot and dry in the summer and rainy from early October thru April. Septmber- October and May-June may be... |
