Lake Merritt is always a pleasure to visit. Lots of folks from Coos Bay come to Lake Merritt; a great nearby hotel is Comfort Inn North Bend. Lake Merritt is in the vicinity of Blossom Gulch which is beyond doubt worth stopping at, and close by you come across the Threemile Lake Trail which is a perfect hiking trail. Be careful coming to the Coast Ranges, you might not ever wanna go home again. Get your heart pumping on the nice whitewater of Millicoma River

| | - West Fork, and Mingus Park Creek is right next door to Lake Merritt and is always a diversion to stop by. That right there is a heap of fun stuff already but it goes on, the Coast Ranges has it all. There are other locations here than Lake Merritt, for example Upper Empire Lake, and Kentuck Golf Course is a delightful golf course nearby. North Beach is in the vicinity of Lake Merritt and is a charming beach to go to, and if you came for an overnight stay | |

Arbe's RV Park is a great place to camp. The high level of precipitation makes Lake Merritt a reasonably wet spot; the month with most of the rain is December; July is when it's the driest. So many cool things next to Lake Merritt,
just tremendous. This lake is so wonderful. Midway RV Park is a nice local campground, and the top of Radar Hill is easily seen from Lake Merritt. Having a great time at Lake Merritt is trouble-free. Lakes are such calm locations,
why not pop by Upper Pony Creek Reservoir in close proximity to Lake Merritt, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Holiday Motel is a glorious site to spend a night or two. Lake Merritt is located in the Coast Ranges. For
the duration of the days of summer, highs commonly are in the 60's at Lake Merritt. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's. All through the wintertime highs are ordinarily in the 50's with winter lows
in the 30's overnight here at Lake Merritt. This lake is so wonderful. Very good water scenery is available at Lower Pony Creek Dam in close proximity to Lake Merritt, and Libby Arm is reasonably close.

Upper Pony Creek Reservoir
 | I work for the Coos Bay-North Bend water board and have the unique pleasure to view the Upper Pony Creek Dam, The Reservoir and the surrounding watershed when work there is required. The area is quiet as it is a restricted area and the resident Elk herd is often seen along with a deer or two once and a while. When the weather is nice the lake is a beautiful blue. The trees are in a scheduled harvest cycle and replaced when cut so there is stands of huge trees alongside smaller sized tree patches. all in all it is a pleasure to get to ''work'' in such a beautiful environment and to have the distinct opportunity to live in the area I do. It is possible to view this magnificant area when tours are made available through the Water Board.... |
