Lake Lenore

Near Lake Lenore is a splendid 5.5-mile-long sweep of whitewater on Collawash River, a category IV, this is the Mile 5.5 bridge to Two Rivers Picnic Area portion. The Mile 5.5 bridge to Two Rivers Picnic Area portion of Collawash River is suitable for kayak paddlers who have been raft paddling for a while but who are not yet set for the really dangerous rapids. The 5-mile-from-beginning-to-end Elk Lake Creek to river mile 5.5 section is a grade III-IV(V) section
of whitewater on Collawash River. The Elk Lake Creek to river mile 5.5 section of Collawash River is suggested for skilled paddlers solely.

If your planning a trip early in the season make sure to call Ripple Brook Ranger Station and check on the trail conditions as the snow pack changes from year to year. This picture was taken June 26th of 1994, so you can see some years you may encounter snow on the shaded parts of the trails well into June. - Rob Wallace
