    Why not stop by Laird Lake if you're passing through these parts. At Laird Lake you always meet someone from Brookings; why not take a refreshing hike along the Mountain Wells Trail. Laird Lake gets a lot of water; December is the wettest month with most rain while July is mostly the driest month. This lake is located in the wonderful Coast Ranges.
This lake is so wonderful. Laird Lake is a magnificent place to camp, McCurdy Campground is a magnificent
 
   place; hiking along the Grassy Knob Trail is nice fun. All through the warm days of summer at Laird Lake highs are frequently in the 70's, and the night is fairly cooler of course, commonly in the 50's. All through the wintertime the highs are generally in the 50's while Laird Lake night low temperatures through the winter are in the 30's. If you want a perfect time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Laird Lake. Looking for some flowing water? Try  
               Blackberry Creek, and Laird Lake is right by the Lower River Trail.
There's no way someone can get bored here in the Coast Ranges. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Laird Lake has to offer, you can camp at Barklow Mountain Campground, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Elk River. Yep, outdoors amusing stuff truly is bountiful here in the Coast Ranges. There are some glorious whitewater spots on Coquille River - South Fork; after a long day outdoors Inn of the Beachcomber is a perfect site to spend a night or two.
