Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we       recommend John Day River - North Fork; Trough Creek Campground is a nice local campground. Getting to Howard Creek from Jumpoff Joe Lake is painless, and if you came for an overnight stay Deerhorn Campground is a splendid site to camp. Through the summer here at Jumpoff Joe Lake, high temperatures generally get into the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 30's. Through the wintertime the highs are usually in the 30's                  with temperatures at Jumpoff Joe Lake dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. Not much rain falls here at Jumpoff Joe Lake; during November this area sees the most rain, and July is when it's the driest. The Blue Mountains scenery is always beautiful. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Sunset Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood, and Jumpoff Joe Lake is not the only location close by, Lost Lake is a close by lake. So much cool stuff to do in the Blue Mountains, not enough time. While you're here at Jumpoff Joe Lake you can take a hike along the Beeman Junkens Trail.
