Jordan Lake is a glorious place to visit for more than one day, Arbe's RV Park is a glorious place to camp nearby, and Middle Empire Lake Dam is a scenic site, undeniably worth taking a look at. Summer
brings highs in the 60's to Jordan Lake. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's. Highs during the winter are usually in the 50's, and overnight lows in the 30's for Jordan Lake. This lake is so wonderful. The Firs RV is a glorious campground nearby; nothing beats kicking back at North Beach.

Upper Pony Creek Reservoir
 | Hi Ken--I'm trying to locate a USGS survey marker not too far from the headwaters of Pony Creek. I believe it's on the Libby Road in the NW corner of sec. 9, T 26S R13W. Have you ever seen it? Frank (local historian)....I work for the Coos Bay-North Bend water board and have the unique pleasure to view the Upper Pony Creek Dam, The Reservoir and the surrounding watershed when work there is required. The area is quiet as it is a restricted area and the resident Elk herd is often seen along with a deer or two once and a while. When the weather is nice the lake is a beautiful blue. The trees are in a scheduled harvest cycle and replaced when cut so there is stands of huge trees alongside smaller sized tree patches. all in all it is a pleasure to get to ''work'' in such a beautiful environment and to have the distinct opportunity to live in the area I do. It is possible to view this magnificant area when tours are made available through the Water Board.... |
