There are some tremendous whitewater spots on McKenzie River - South Fork; on a magnificent day you can take a hike along the Twin Peaks Trail. All the outdoors enjoyable things near Irish Lake will keep you coming back time and again. There's so much to do here at Irish Lake that you need to camp here for a while, East Lake Resort and RV Parks is a pleasant place for that; the Packsaddle Mountain Trail is a wonderful hiking       trail close by. Irish Lake is a rather wet place frequently with a great deal of rainfall; of all the months in a year December is the one with the most rain; the driest month is July. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Irish Lake, you could also check out delightful Barbie Lakes, and wonderful scenery and good skiing is what you get at Mt. Bachelor. There's no way anybody can get bored here in the Central Cascade Range. Near Irish Lake you locate                  the Lakeside Trail which is a good hiking trail. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Horse Creek, and Irish Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Twin Springs Campground is a great local campground. High temperatures at Irish Lake through the long summer days are in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Irish Lake sink into the 20's. So much exciting stuff to do in the Central Cascade Range, not enough time. What would winter be without some skiing at Willamette Pass; Pillar Peak is clearly visible from Irish Lake.
