This lake is so wonderful. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Mt. Ashland is in close proximity to Ice House Lake, and a wonderful close by hotel is Lithia Springs Resort And Gardens. If you get bored of Ice House Lake, you could also take a look at nearby Gibson Reservoir, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Big Butte Creek. And if that's not enough there's a lot more fun stuff to do in the Southern Cascade Range.

the Southern Cascade Range. At Ice House Lake you don’t see much rainfall; December is the wettest month with most rain, and July on the other hand is the driest. While you're here at Ice House Lake you can take a hike along the Bieberstedt
Trail, and since you're here at Ice House Lake it's a fine idea to explore Hooper Meadows. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors entertaining things the area close to Ice House Lake has to offer. There are some great
whitewater spots on Jenny Creek; do put some time aside to spend at Donsmore Spring since you're here at Ice House Lake. For the duration of the warm months here at Ice House Lake, high temperatures commonly get into the 90's. Summer
nighttime lows plunge down to the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's, and overnight lows in the 30's for Ice House Lake. Now, you may imagine that's a load but there's even more enjoyable things to do here in the Southern
Cascade Range. Going for a hike along the Buck Point Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity; nearby Deep Hollow is a tremendous spot to go. Ice House Lake really is in the middle of a beautiful outdoors
paradise. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Ice House Lake has to offer, you can camp at Campers Cove, and on a pretty day you obtain a delightful sight of Sugarloaf from Ice House Lake.

Ashland offers plenty of adventure for both skiers and riders. The ski area is located about a half an hour drive from the charming town of Ashland, home to the world renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival. At 7,500 feet, Mt. Ashland is the highest point in the Siskiyou mountain range. Its north facing slopes collect an average 300 inches of snowfall annually. The ski area offers 23 trails in addition to chute skiing and boarding in its famous bowl. All trails are easily accessed by 4 chairlifts. Twilight skiing on 10 runs is scheduled Thursday through Friday evenings beginning in late-December. The mountain prides itself on a warm and friendly atmosphere.  | 14 miles away You have got to be kidding. IV-V+???!!!!!! Has someone really run the falls? You make it sound like a like just any old run. It can only be run at the few times there is enough water and for a large part of the run, barb wire, willow thickets in the channel and recluses with shotguns are the main obstacles. Only the last few miles has whitewater of note and it is challenging. I ran this section in the mid eighties and claim along with my buddies Kent Erskine and Max Linn a first descent.... |
