A good place to camp here at Howard Schmidt Reservoir is Scappose Airport County Park, and not far from Howard Schmidt Reservoir you'll hit upon Jackson Reservoir which is a pretty lake. Howard Schmidt Reservoir is a relatively wet place generally with a large amount of rainfall; December is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year       is July. This lake is so wonderful. The vista of Dixie Mountain from Howard Schmidt Reservoir is stunning, and Howard Schmidt Reservoir is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Horning's Fishing & Picnic is a glorious local campground.
