Go to Hot Lake Reservoir if you want to go to a nice lake. Summer at Hot Lake Reservoir comes with high temperatures in the 80's, and the overnight is quite colder of course, generally in the 50's. Through the winter highs are usually in the 30's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Hot Lake Reservoir. Gekeler Slough is one of the streams close by that might be worth going to, and you'll meet a lot of people from La Grande here. Not far from Hot Lake

Spout Springs

Pete and Esther Eyraud were the first owners. Pete was the second President of Pacific Northwest Ski Instructors Association and was instrumental in bringing the first French ski instructors to the northwest ski areas. Its name is derived from the numerous natural springs that are found throughout the region. There are three springs on the resort's property. Spout Springs has 2 double chair lifts, a 21 KM cross country trail system, night skiing (the entire area is lighted), and one of the states few free tubing hills. In the late 60's, Spout Springs was the Nordic training center for the United States Olympic team and the Norwegian jump team. Spout Springs flies the Olympic Flag for this distinction.
