Horsepasture Lake is always a pleasure to visit. For the duration of the summer, highs regularly are in the 70's at Horsepasture Lake, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Horsepasture Lake are in the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Horsepasture Lake, you could also have a look at gorgeous Resting Lake, and time spent at Goble Beach is always nice. A good

| | swamp close to Horsepasture Lake is Benham Slough; some of the water close by flows, like McBride Creek. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Oak Meadows Inn, and at Horsepasture Lake you always meet someone from Longview-Kelso. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Goble Creek, and if you came to camp Columbia Riverfront RV Park is a great site to do that. Martin Bluff. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Louis L Rasmussen RV Park is always a great experience, and Deer Island Point is not far at all. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing stuff at Horsepasture
Lake. Drift down the rapids of Kalama River in a kayak, and after a long day outdoors Kalama River Inn is a magnificent spot to spend a night or two. Horsepasture Lake sees pretty high levels of precipitation; December is when you
get the most rain here; July is the month with the least moisture. On a great day at Horsepasture Lake you can take a hike along the Georges Peak Trail.

Sturgeon Lake is a GREAT place to fish at on Sauvie Island. For exsample, There are WARM WATER SPECIES like: CATFISH, BASS, PANFISH, PERCH, WALLEYE & LOT MORE!  | 15 miles away If you choose to run the canyon be advised about half way through in low water conditions there is a slot falls there narrow and fast once you get to the other side its all private property till you get to the Kelso dike . the only good take out for large boats is at the mouth of the river and on the other side of the cowlitz about 100 yards up stream. the cowlitz runs fast most of the time . there is also a large tree across the river about a mile below the gravel pit. It would be a sweeper in high water. I also find the milage on this chart to be wacko some close some not even in the target. its a nice float but that canyon is dangerous .... |
