The beauty of Horning Reservoir is reason enough to stop by. The Central Cascade Range scenery is always beautiful. So much enjoyable stuff to do here at Horning Reservoir, too great to be true. Get your heart pumping on the nice whitewater of Mollala River - North Fork, and since you're here and you like golf, you can explore Springwater Golf Course. A perfect close by hotel is Howard Johnson Gresham; great hiking is available along the Pine Crest Trail.

| | There are other sites here than Horning Reservoir, for example Swanson Reservoir, and the friendly people of Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton like to hang out close by. This lake is so wonderful. Eagle Fern Camp is a good local campground, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Horning Reservoir; High Camp Trail is a splendid local trail. Horning Reservoir sees pretty high levels of rain; most of the rain falls all through December; the driest month is July. | |

This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Milo Mciver State Park is a good place to camp, and if you need a location to stay Best Western Sandy Inn is a delightful choice. So many enjoyable things in the Central
Cascade Range, just striking. Bittner Creek flows through this area; there's whitewater on Clear Creek for all you adrenaline kick people. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool things in the Central Cascade Range. Lakes? Sure,
Cedar Reservoir is around here, and the Baty Silver King Trail offers hiking at its best. High temperatures at Horning Reservoir during the long summer days are in the 80's. Summer overnight lows plunge down to the 50's. Highs all through the wintertime are frequently in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 30's for Horning Reservoir.

Pine Crest Trail
 | 11 miles away ...eekend and we were disappointed to find that S. Mollala Forest Rd narrows and now effectively ends. Actually, it continues, but the road is impeded by a gate sporting many 'no trespassing' signs and marking it 'private property'. When we got to this point, we were just about to turn around and go home when another car drove past us onto the road. Having driven for several hours to get there, we dared to venture further, and followed the car despite the many warnings on the gate. Now, if you are reading this please heed my advice... never do what we did. Do not try to find this trail. Listen to signs. They are usually there for a reason. We could not locate the next road to turn on because all the old street signs had been removed and all of the old turn-offs warned away the unauthorized with huge boulders blocking the road, locked gates and more no-trespassing signs. After taking some pictures of beautifully dilapidated country houses, we decided to call it a day and return home empty handed.
