High Lake gets very little precipitation; during May this area sees the most rain; July on the other hand is the driest. After a long day outdoors Best Western John Day Inn is a magnificent place to spend a night or two; hiking is a popular thing to do around High Lake; Strawberry Basin Trail is a great local trail. So many fun things in the Blue Mountains, just incredible. High Lake is not the only site       close by, Slide Lake is a close by lake, and dry warm beds await you at Burns - Days Inn Ponderosa. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Indian Springs Campground, and there's brilliant hiking along the Lake Creek Trail. Throughout the warm months highs here at High Lake get into the 80's, and the nighttime is a bit colder of course, typically in the 40's. Highs throughout the winter are typically in the 40's with temperatures at High Lake dipping                  down into the 20's all through winter nights. Don't leave High Lake without first paying a visit to Indian Springs, and if you get bored of High Lake you could also have a look at close by Little Slide Lake. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Blue Mountains. You'll need more than a day to look at everything High Lake has to offer, you can camp at Wickiup Campground. High Lake in fact is in the middle of a stunning outdoors paradise. You get a delightful vista of Indian Spring Butte from High Lake, and pleasant hiking is available along the Slide Basin Trail.
