Hawkins Lake is a wet spot that gets much precipitation; December is the month that gets the most rain, and July is when it's the driest. Yep, outdoors exciting things to do are in fact bountiful here at Hawkins Lake. For the period of the summertime months highs here at Hawkins Lake get into the 70's while night lows are generally in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with       highs in the 40's while Hawkins Lake overnight low temperatures all through the wintertime are in the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. Take a side tour to Crooked Creek; golf can be played at Vernonia Golf Club. A fine location for whitewater paddling near Hawkins Lake is Nehalem River, and Longview Travelodge is a good place to get some rest. That right there is a heap of enjoyable things already but it goes on, the Coast Ranges has it all. Camping is available                  at Big Eddy County Park; if you need a place to stay Best Western University Inn is a wonderful choice. A fine spot to camp here at Hawkins Lake is Cedar Ridge, and Clatsop State Forest is a great local forest.
