Paddling on Grande Ronde River is so much fun; the trees of Whitman National Forest are a delightful source of shade on hot summer days. Now, you may think that's lots but there's even more amusing things to do here in the Blue Mountains. There is a fine hiking trail near Grande Ronde Lake called the Marion Jordan Trail, and why not camp at Rocky Ford Campground since you're here at Grande Ronde Lake. If the weather is fine here at       Grande Ronde Lake, you can go for a hike along the Boulevard Trail; Angell Basin is a stunning spot any time of year. This lake is so wonderful. Grande Ronde River has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby, and after a long day outdoors La Grande Travelodge is a brilliant site to spend a night or two. And if that's not enough there's plenty more exciting stuff to do in the Blue Mountains. A great spot to camp here at Grande Ronde Lake is North Fork Anthony                  Campground, and a wonderful close by hotel is Rodeway Inn La Grande. Grande Ronde Lake is pretty dried up usually; all through January this area sees the most snow, and the driest month of the year is July. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors exciting stuff the area near Grande Ronde Lake has to offer. Nearby lakes? Sure, Anthony Lakes is right next door to Grande Ronde Lake, and you obtain a great view of Gunsight Mountain from here. The winter comes with highs in the 30's; after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Grande Ronde Lake sink into the 20's.
