If the weather is lovely, you obtain a good view of Angell Butte from Gollum Reservoir, and a lake close by is Stump Waterhole. For the period of the days of summer at Gollum Reservoir temperatures are commonly in the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. Through the winter highs are mostly in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Gollum Reservoir are in the 10's. Gollum Reservoir is a delightful       place to visit for more than one day, Buck Spring Campground is a delightful place to camp nearby, and if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Coffeepot Trail. Gollum Reservoir is pretty dried out ordinarily; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is September. Don't try to stop me, cause I'm havin' a great time here at Gollum Reservoir. Little Summit Campground is a nice campground nearby;                  while you're here you can take a hike along the Owl Creek Trail. So much entertaining stuff in the Blue Mountains, just amazing. John Day Fossil Beds National Monument is a glorious national park, and Gollum Reservoir is not the only place nearby, Halfway Waterhole is a nearby lake. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Gollum Reservoir without first paying a visit to Davin Spring, and the Black Canyon Trail is a delightful hiking trail nearby.
