Gilchrist Log Pond gets very little precipitation; the wettest month of the year is typically December, that's the one that       snows the most while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Whitewater paddling is great on Deschutes River, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Gilchrist Log Pond; Moore Creek Trail is a delightful local trail.
