The Central Cascade Range scenery is always beautiful. The snow is great at Willamette Pass, and a pleasant close by hotel is Best Western Newberry Station. If you want a good time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Central Cascade Range. There's so much to do here at Gilchrist Log Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Crescent RV Park is a delightful spot for that, and you can run the rapids of Deschutes River.
Summer brings highs in the

70's to Gilchrist Log Pond, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Gilchrist Log Pond. Near Gilchrist Log Pond you stumble on the Moore Creek Trail which is a brilliant hiking trail; there are other spots here than Gilchrist Log Pond, for example Gilchrist Reservoir. You feel that's enough? Just getting warmed up. Lakes? Sure, Crescent Reservoir is in
the neighborhood; if you came to camp Big Pines RV Park is a splendid location to do that.
This lake is so wonderful. If the weather is wonderful, you obtain a great panorama of Crescent Butte from Gilchrist Log Pond; a tour to Bingham Park revives the soul. These mountains rock, just explore all the cool stuff to do in the Central Cascade Range. Around Gilchrist Log Pond you don’t get a lot of rainfall; through the month of December you get the most snow around here, and the driest month is July.

Davis Lake

This website needs updating. I was there on Aug. 2nd,3rd, and 4th 2007. There are a LOT of bass there. We saw NO trout at all, and no one we talked to had caught or seen one. I was there with 2 others for bass fishing. there is no camping at the west boat launch area. Day use only. There are 2 camp sites on the east side. The Lava Flow site is closed, and has been for some time. There is a primative site there. No water or elec. and very primative boat launching area. You have to pole or row through the tules to get out on the lake. The old campground is closed because of Eagles nest there. Eagles are no longer on the endangerd spieces list. Why not re-open that area. it has a great boat ramp. Bass fishing was great, but not many large fish when we were there. Lots of smaller bass. We were told it was real good in late June and first half of July. We will try again next year....
