Kirk Weller:
No fish here.  At least no fish jumping.  Probably winter kills as Google Earth show this lake very low by late summer.

This lake is one of the great places here in the Central Cascade Range. These mountains rock, just look at all the entertaining things to do in the Central Cascade Range. Fir Tree Creek flows through this vicinity, and camping is available at Kinzel Lake Campground. If only every place had this much outdoors fun stuff, what a great planet it would be. On a fine day at Frying Pan Lake you can take a hike along the Skyline Alternate Trail; if you need a location
to stay Whispering Woods (Vri) is a wonderful choice.
And if that's not sufficient, there's heaps more to do right next door to Frying Pan Lake. Soar down the rapids of Zigzag River in a kayak. If you get bored of Frying Pan Lake, you could also go to nearby Veda Lake, and dry warm beds await you at Mount Hood Inn. This lake is so wonderful. A day on the slopes of Timberline Lodge is just what you need, and there is a great hiking trail nearby called

               the Wind Creek Trail.
You absolutely have to fancy the Central Cascade Range. Get drenched paddling on Sandy River, and if you came for an overnight stay High Cascade Snowboard Camp is a great location to camp. This lake is so wonderful. Frying Pan Lake is not the only site close by, Little Crater Lake is a close by lake; the Tom Dick Trail is a nice hiking trail close by. Why not stop by a swamp like Dry Meadow since you're here at Frying Pan Lake; Basin Point is easy to spot from Frying Pan Lake.
At Frying Pan Lake you always meet someone from Hood River; the snow is good at Mt. Hood Ski Bowl. The high level of rainfall makes Frying Pan Lake a relatively wet place; the wettest month of the year is usually December, that's the one that rains the most; July is the month with the least moisture. Summertime highs at Frying Pan Lake typically tend to be in the 70's; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Highs throughout the wintertime are mostly in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Frying Pan Lake temperatures dip to the 30's.

Have you been to the Bighorn campground site???While this is a beautiful pack-in, primitive site, it doesn't fit with your description. Before camping, take a hike on Nat.
