Brittany Lake is a lake in the neighborhood, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Ernie Lake; Salmon Creek Trail is a splendid local trail. If you come at the right time of year, McKenzie River - South Fork offers some fine whitewater, and Rigdon Butte can be made out from Ernie Lake.
