Nearby Ripley Gulch is a good spot to go if you're at Elms Reservoir; close by you stumble on the Twin Lakes Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail. The scenery at Elms Dam near Elms Reservoir is delightful, and if you need a place to stay Rodeway Inn Baker City is a delightful choice. At Elms Reservoir through the summer highs are in the 80's while night lows are mostly in the 40's. For the duration of the wintertime       this place gets highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Elms Reservoir descend into the 10's. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing stuff next to Elms Reservoir. There is a splendid hiking trail in the vicinity of Elms Reservoir called the Elkhorn Crest Trail; a lovely lake like Morfitt Reservoir is a delightful site to explore. At Elms Reservoir you don’t see much rain; the month of December is the wettest with most                  of the snow, and the driest month is July. Elms Reservoir is great enough to spend more than a day at, Unity Lake is a great local campground, and going for a hike on the Rock Creek Lake Trail is always a glorious adventure. This lake is so wonderful.
