Many people like to go to Elk Lake. High temperatures at Elk Lake all through the warmest time of the year are in the 80's. All through the moonlight hours it's usually in the 40's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Elk Lake. And if that's not enough there's plenty more entertaining things to do in the Central Cascade Range. This is a good vicinity for folks who like lakes. Hosmer Lake
is a lake nearby, and good hiking is available along the Sunset Lake Trail. Just can't get enough of the Central Cascade Range. Don't forget to take a perfect little visit to Quinn Creek. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Elk Lake has to offer, you can camp at East Lake Resort and RV Parks.
Elk Lake is a rather wet place mostly with a lot of rainfall; most of the rain falls through December while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.

Very wonderful scenery and tremendous skiing is what you get at Hoodoo. Now, you may feel that's a heap but there's even more cool stuff to do here at Elk Lake. Gotta ski! Mt. Bachelor is a magnificent site to do that, and don't leave Elk Lake without first going for a hike along the Six Lakes Trail.
There's so much to do here at Elk Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Upper Campground is a great place for that, and there are some magnificent whitewater spots on Squaw Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Put some time aside to spend at Elk Lake Springs since you're here at Elk Lake, and if you come at the right time of year, Deschutes River offers some nice whitewater. Elk Lake is one of the lakes here in the Central Cascade Range.
This lake is so wonderful. Nearby lakes? Sure, Blow Lake is in close proximity to Elk Lake, and on a gorgeous day you obtain a pleasant sight of Elk Mountain from Elk Lake. Don't leave Elk Lake without first checking out Red Crater, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Elk Lake; Mirror Lake Trail is a nice local trail.

Winopee Lake
Went to Winopee lake this weekend...it was a little dissapointing because the lake is about 45% covered with reeds and lilly pads. The Eastern shore is the only one you can accesst the water without having to wade through reeds. There is quite a few algae blooms so swimming isn't an option. Overall, the view was nice but not spectacular. There are three decent campsites at the lake, popular with horse camps. The best of the three sites is the one on the Eastern bank, take the first trail you come accross before reaching the junction for sno-shoe lake. The second and third campsites are on the West bank and are a little harder to find...head for the clifs and you are there....

Davis Lake
18 miles away
This website needs updating. I was there on Aug. 2nd,3rd, and 4th 2007. There are a LOT of bass there. We saw NO trout at all, and no one we talked to had caught or seen one. I was there with 2 others for bass fishing. there is no camping at the west boat launch area. Day use only. There are 2 camp sites on the east side. The Lava Flow site is closed, and has been for some time. There is a primative site there. No water or elec. and very primative boat launching area. You have to pole or row through the tules to get out on the lake. The old campground is closed because of Eagles nest there. Eagles are no longer on the endangerd spieces list. Why not re-open that area. it has a great boat ramp. Bass fishing was great, but not many large fish when we were there. Lots of smaller bass. We were told it was real good in late June and first half of July. We will try again next year....
