You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Central Cascade Range. A good location to camp here at Elk Lake is Upper Campground, and lakes are such peaceful locations, why not take a look at Blow Lake. Red Crater is an out of the ordinary location to stop by while at Elk Lake. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Elk Lake, and the nighttime is rather cooler of course, mostly in the 40's. Daytime highs through the wintertime
| | | |
| | are in the 30's with temperatures at Elk Lake dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. Elk Lake is right by the Sunset Lake Trail, and why not check out nearby Quinn Creek while you're here at Elk Lake. You can run the rapids of Squaw Creek next to Elk Lake, and a day on the slopes of Hoodoo is just what you need. That right there is a heap of enjoyable things already but it goes on, the Central Cascade Range has it all. Get your heart pumping on | |

the great whitewater of Deschutes River, and Elk Lake is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, East Lake Resort and RV Parks is a splendid local campground. This lake is one of the great places here in the Central Cascade
Range. And if that's not enough, there's lots more to do near Elk Lake. On a wonderful day you obtain a view of Elk Mountain from Elk Lake; do take a hike on the Mirror Lake Trail. This lake is so wonderful. A tour to Elk Lake wouldn't
be complete without taking a look at Elk Lake Springs, and the Six Lakes Trail offers hiking at its best. This lake is so wonderful. A delightful lake like Hosmer Lake in close proximity to Elk Lake is a wonderful spot to stop
by, and the snow is good at Mt. Bachelor. The high level of precipitation makes Elk Lake a pretty wet site; during the month of December you get the most rain around here, and July is the month with the least moisture.

Winopee Lake
 | Went to Winopee lake this weekend...it was a little dissapointing because the lake is about 45% covered with reeds and lilly pads. The Eastern shore is the only one you can accesst the water without having to wade through reeds. There is quite a few algae blooms so swimming isn't an option. Overall, the view was nice but not spectacular. There are three decent campsites at the lake, popular with horse camps. The best of the three sites is the one on the Eastern bank, take the first trail you come accross before reaching the junction for sno-shoe lake. The second and third campsites are on the West bank and are a little harder to find...head for the clifs and you are there.... |

Davis Lake
 | 18 miles away This website needs updating. I was there on Aug. 2nd,3rd, and 4th 2007. There are a LOT of bass there. We saw NO trout at all, and no one we talked to had caught or seen one. I was there with 2 others for bass fishing. there is no camping at the west boat launch area. Day use only. There are 2 camp sites on the east side. The Lava Flow site is closed, and has been for some time. There is a primative site there. No water or elec. and very primative boat launching area. You have to pole or row through the tules to get out on the lake. The old campground is closed because of Eagles nest there. Eagles are no longer on the endangerd spieces list. Why not re-open that area. it has a great boat ramp. Bass fishing was great, but not many large fish when we were there. Lots of smaller bass. We were told it was real good in late June and first half of July. We will try again next year.... |
