It is very dehydrated here at Downey Lake ordinarily; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow, and the driest month is July. All through the summertime at Downey Lake temperatures are mostly in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 40's. Getting to Hayden Creek from Downey Lake is easy. There's so much to do here at Downey Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Park At The River is a glorious place for that. This lake is so wonderful. Eagle Cap Chalets is a great place to get some rest; going for a hike along the Western Rim National Recreation Trail will let you absorb                  the natural beauty of this vicinity. Stay the night at Wallowa Lake State Park, and hiking along the Summit Creek Trail is wonderful fun.
