Baker Creek is one of the streams nearby that might be worth checking out; on a delightful day you obtain a good view of Bald Mountain from Dorena Lake. | | local trail; in the neighborhood of Dorena Lake you find a golf course called Middlefield Golf Course. This lake is so wonderful. The Eagles Rest Trail offers hiking at its best; not far from Dorena Lake you acquire some fine water scenery at Dorena Dam. always a magnificent experience; nearby you come across Baker Bay. These mountains rock, just look at all the fun stuff to do in the Central Cascade Range. If you need a site to stay Moonstone Village Green Resort is a fine choice,
and Garden Lake is a delightful lake close by. Dorena Lake is one of the lakes here in the Central Cascade Range. Throughout the summertime here at Dorena Lake, high temperatures commonly reach the 80's. Throughout the dark hours
of summer temperatures fall down into the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's; nighttime lows at Dorena Lake through the wintertime typically dip into the 30's. Get wet paddling on Row River; there are other
spots here than Dorena Lake, for example Booth-Kelly Lumber Company Log Pond. There's great hiking along the Teeter Creek Loop, and there are plenty of folks from Eugene-Springfield here. All the water falling down from the sky
makes Dorena Lake a wet place; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily November, that's the one that rains the most, and July on the other hand is the driest. Now, you may imagine that's a heap but there's even more amusing stuff to do here at Dorena Lake.

 | ...he water but cannot get back out because the water pushes then back into the cave, and then they run out of air. There is also a lot of submerged debris that snag boaters and swimmers alike. These full sized logs and branches catch people's legs, arms, and smash their heads with the force of the waterfall pounding them and the debris then drags them down in the undertow below the falls, churning below the surface of the water. Local Cottage Grove Rescue divers (30 min. from the falls) have also died in recent years at Wildwood Falls in attempts to drag dead bodies out, because of the debris and undertow. It seems like a very docile place to swim and is a very popular place in the summer (approx. 150-200 people every day). BUT anyone going in the water in June are really asking for trouble unless the water level is really low and calm. If the water is still high or even at a moderate level weeks after the last heavy rain, logs and branches that wash down from the Umpqua National Forest logging operations many miles up river get trapped at the first big basin, Wildwood Falls, and thras... |
