This lake is one of the great places here in the Central Cascade Range. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend McKenzie River - South Fork. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Winopee Lake Trail, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at nearby Long Lake. Desane Lake gets a lot of water; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain, and
| | | |
| | the driest month of the year is July. Yeah, come here to Desane Lake for a fine time. Little Roundtop Mountain is clearly visible from Desane Lake, and if you come at the right time of year, Horse Creek offers some nice whitewater. Summer at Desane Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 40's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 40's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime | |

at Desane Lake temperatures dip to the 20's. You clearly must love the Central Cascade Range. Lakes are splendid; S Lake is a lake that's near Desane Lake, and Desane Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Upper Campground
is a fine local campground. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Desane Lake; Mud Lake Trail is a brilliant local trail, and the slopes of Mt. Bachelor are so inviting noone can resist. On a good day you can stop at Beaver Marsh,
a swamp right next door to Desane Lake. There's so much to do here at Desane Lake that you need to camp here for a while, East Lake Resort and RV Parks is a fine site for that. These mountains rock, just explore all the fun things
to do in the Central Cascade Range. Good hiking is available along the Snowshoe Lake Trail; what would winter be without some skiing at Willamette Pass.

Winopee Lake
 | Went to Winopee lake this weekend...it was a little dissapointing because the lake is about 45% covered with reeds and lilly pads. The Eastern shore is the only one you can accesst the water without having to wade through reeds. There is quite a few algae blooms so swimming isn't an option. Overall, the view was nice but not spectacular. There are three decent campsites at the lake, popular with horse camps. The best of the three sites is the one on the Eastern bank, take the first trail you come accross before reaching the junction for sno-shoe lake. The second and third campsites are on the West bank and are a little harder to find...head for the clifs and you are there.... |

Davis Lake
 | 15 miles away This website needs updating. I was there on Aug. 2nd,3rd, and 4th 2007. There are a LOT of bass there. We saw NO trout at all, and no one we talked to had caught or seen one. I was there with 2 others for bass fishing. there is no camping at the west boat launch area. Day use only. There are 2 camp sites on the east side. The Lava Flow site is closed, and has been for some time. There is a primative site there. No water or elec. and very primative boat launching area. You have to pole or row through the tules to get out on the lake. The old campground is closed because of Eagles nest there. Eagles are no longer on the endangerd spieces list. Why not re-open that area. it has a great boat ramp. Bass fishing was great, but not many large fish when we were there. Lots of smaller bass. We were told it was real good in late June and first half of July. We will try again next year.... |
