The Central Cascade Range scenery is always beautiful. Go for a hike on the Twin Peaks Trail, and almost certainly you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Brittany Lake is just a very short distance away. This lake is so wonderful.
Now, you may imagine that's a heap but there's even more fun stuff to do here at Dans Lake. Mt. Bachelor has tremendous slopes and a friendly staff, and needless to say, this is a brilliant area for people who like lakes, Harvey Lake

is a lake close at hand. Dans Lake frequently gets a good deal of rain; the month with most of the rain is December, and the driest of the months is July. But wait, there's more fun stuff to do in the Central Cascade Range. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Horse Creek, and why not camp at Twin Springs Campground since you're here at Dans Lake.
Through the warm days of summer highs

here at Dans Lake get into the 80's while night lows are commonly in the 40's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Dans Lake are in the 20's. Near Dans Lake you find the Crain Prairie Trail which is a good hiking trail, and a brilliant site for whitewater paddling is McKenzie River - South Fork. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Winchester Trail is always a brilliant adventure, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Willamette Pass.
Having a brilliant time in the Central Cascade Range is uncomplicated. If you came for an overnight stay Shelter Cove Resort is a fine place to camp; here at Dans Lake you can see Rigdon Butte.

Winopee Lake
10 miles away
Went to Winopee lake this weekend...it was a little dissapointing because the lake is about 45% covered with reeds and lilly pads. The Eastern shore is the only one you can accesst the water without having to wade through reeds. There is quite a few algae blooms so swimming isn't an option. Overall, the view was nice but not spectacular. There are three decent campsites at the lake, popular with horse camps. The best of the three sites is the one on the Eastern bank, take the first trail you come accross before reaching the junction for sno-shoe lake. The second and third campsites are on the West bank and are a little harder to find...head for the clifs and you are there....

Davis Lake
15 miles away
This website needs updating. I was there on Aug. 2nd,3rd, and 4th 2007. There are a LOT of bass there. We saw NO trout at all, and no one we talked to had caught or seen one. I was there with 2 others for bass fishing. there is no camping at the west boat launch area. Day use only. There are 2 camp sites on the east side. The Lava Flow site is closed, and has been for some time. There is a primative site there. No water or elec. and very primative boat launching area. You have to pole or row through the tules to get out on the lake. The old campground is closed because of Eagles nest there. Eagles are no longer on the endangerd spieces list. Why not re-open that area. it has a great boat ramp. Bass fishing was great, but not many large fish when we were there. Lots of smaller bass. We were told it was real good in late June and first half of July. We will try again next year....
