All through the summer highs here at       Collins Reservoir reach the 80's, and the nighttime is fairly colder of course, usually in the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 40's with temperatures at Collins Reservoir dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. If you're here at Collins Reservoir, you could visit Fry Creek, and you can stay the night at Lonesome Spring Campground. Do pop by Fort Creek Reservoir close to Collins Reservoir, it's a scenic                  lake. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Collins Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at Little Summit Campground. Collins Dam is a spot that is right next door to Collins Reservoir, and popping by John Day Fossil Beds National Monument is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. Not much precipitation falls here at Collins Reservoir; the wettest month of the year is regularly May, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month of the year is July.
