Winopee Lake
 | Went to Winopee lake this weekend...it was a little dissapointing because the lake is about 45% covered with reeds and lilly pads. The Eastern shore is the only one you can accesst the water without having to wade through reeds. There is quite a few algae blooms so swimming isn't an option. Overall, the view was nice but not spectacular. There are three decent campsites at the lake, popular with horse camps. The best of the three sites is the one on the Eastern bank, take the first trail you come accross before reaching the junction for sno-shoe lake. The second and third campsites are on the West bank and are a little harder to find...head for the clifs and you are there.... |

Davis Lake
 | 12 miles away This website needs updating. I was there on Aug. 2nd,3rd, and 4th 2007. There are a LOT of bass there. We saw NO trout at all, and no one we talked to had caught or seen one. I was there with 2 others for bass fishing. there is no camping at the west boat launch area. Day use only. There are 2 camp sites on the east side. The Lava Flow site is closed, and has been for some time. There is a primative site there. No water or elec. and very primative boat launching area. You have to pole or row through the tules to get out on the lake. The old campground is closed because of Eagles nest there. Eagles are no longer on the endangerd spieces list. Why not re-open that area. it has a great boat ramp. Bass fishing was great, but not many large fish when we were there. Lots of smaller bass. We were told it was real good in late June and first half of July. We will try again next year.... |

Also offered are sled dog rides, lift-accessible tubing and snowshoe tours lead by USFS rangers. The resort?s annual snowfall averages 370 inches of low-density powder due to its high desert location and altitude. At just over 9,000 feet, you can see to Mt Shasta in California up to Mt Adams in Washington State. Mt Bachelor is defined by its setting ? a pristine mountain experience that is as pure as the day the volcano erupted 15,000 years ago. Riders now enjoy 360-degree access to terrain off the Summit and Northwest chairlifts, a five year back catchline program that was just completed August 2008. Now you can pick a backside fall line that no other soul will take that day. An additional 980 acres off the Summit opens up expert rolling bowls and an additional 358 acres of wild tree riding is accessible west of the Northwest shoulder.
