A visit to Chetco Lake is always a good idea. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Coast Ranges. There's so much to do here at Chetco Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Shelly Creek Campground is a perfect place for that, and on a gorgeous day you acquire a perfect panorama of Chetco Peak from Chetco Lake. This lake is one of the great places here in the Coast Ranges.

There's whitewater on Smith River - North Fork for all you adrenaline junkies, and Best Western Beachfront Inn is a fine place to get some rest. Get your pulse rate up on the glorious whitewater of Illinois River; going for a hike on the Chetco Peak Trail is always a perfect adventure. Throughout the summertime
here at Chetco Lake, high temperatures mostly get into the 60's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. For the period of the winter the highs are typically in the 50's with winter lows in the 40's overnight here at Chetco
Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Do explore Valen Lake right next door to Chetco Lake, it's a scenic lake, and don't leave Chetco Lake without first going for a hike along the Chetco Divide Trail.
