This lake is so wonderful. There's good hiking along the Little Baldy Trail; Anderson Spring is always fun to check out. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Chalk Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at Fopian Campground, and don't leave Chalk Reservoir without first       going for a hike along the Starvation Trail. Skagway Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth a visit; Sagehen Gulch is a brilliant place to spend some time. What a spot this is for outdoors people. The peak of Bingham Point can be made out from Chalk Reservoir; Dutch Oven Reservoir is a nearby lake that you could go to. This lake is so wonderful. A perfect nearby hotel is Best Western John Day Inn, and if you get bored of Chalk Reservoir                  you could also go to close by Forks Reservoir. During the summer here at Chalk Reservoir, high temperatures generally reach the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 30's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and overnight lows all through the wintertime for Chalk Reservoir tend to be in the 0's.
