Carter Lake is a really great place for friendly family fun. The lake is great for canoeing and fishing, warm enough to swim and frolick. The camp sites are varied with some along the lake and others along the dune. Speaking of the dune, the walk up and over the dune to the beach is great. There are many mosqitoes in the swampy part so beware!

If you are traveling by, why not stop by Carter Lake. Carter Lake is a pretty wet place commonly with much precipitation; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. So many fun things in the Coast Ranges, just tremendous. Carter Lake Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth taking a look at, and going for a hike along the Threemile Lake Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty

if you need a location to stay Best Western Pier Point Inn is a delightful choice. During the months of summer at Carter Lake highs are usually in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. Highs through
the wintertime are generally in the 50's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Carter Lake temperatures drop to the 30's.
