     Buttermilk Lake is always a pleasure to visit. Why not camp at Big Elk Campground since you're here at Buttermilk Lake, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Alsea River - North Fork. Just can't get enough of Buttermilk Lake. You'll meet a lot of people from Corvallis here. Buttermilk Lake is a beautiful lake in the Coast Ranges.
Buttermilk Lake is a pretty wet place regularly with much precipitation; December is the month that gets the most rain, and the
 
   driest of the months is July. Throughout the warm months, highs regularly are in the 70's at Buttermilk Lake, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's with temperatures at Buttermilk Lake dipping down into the 30's during winter nights. A nice location to camp here at Buttermilk Lake is Fir Ridge Camp Grounds, and going for a hike along the Horse Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty  
               of this vicinity.
This lake is so wonderful. There are other places here than Buttermilk Lake, for example Bradish Lake, and float down the rapids of Siletz River in a kayak. This site, the Coast Ranges, has so much outdoors enjoyable stuff. Don't forget to take a glorious little visit to Austin Creek, and one of the major marks of the surroundings of Buttermilk Lake is School Hill.
