If you are in Klamath county it's always a good idea to stop by Buck Lake. This lake is one of the great places here in the Southern Cascade Range. What a site this is for outdoors folks. Swamps like Desolation Swamp are fun to explore, and don't leave Buck Lake without first going for a hike along the Varney Creek Trail. But wait, there's more amusing things to do in the Southern Cascade Range. It's a tremendous idea to explore Tunnel Creek, it's close to Buck Lake,

| | and if you came to camp White Pine Campground is a nice spot to do that. An average amount of rainfall falls at Buck Lake; most of the snow falls during December, and July is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. From Buck Lake you acquire a good view of Surveyor Peak, and you can go for a hike on the Brown Mountain Trail. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Southern Cascade Range. Klamath River is a good whitewater spot close to Buck Lake. | |

At Buck Lake through the long summer days highs are in the 70's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 40's. Highs all through the wintertime are mostly in the 30's; nighttime lows at Buck Lake during the wintertime usually
fall into the 10's. A pleasant close by hotel is Golden Eagle Motel; camping at Saddle Campground is always a pleasant experience. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Trask River; going for a hike on the Mountain Lakes Trail is always a good adventure.
