Do stop by Browns Reservoir while you're in this part of Oregon. This lake is so wonderful. The Snow Peak Mill City Trail is a brilliant hiking trail right next door to Browns Reservoir; Cassnor Park is simple to spot from Browns Reservoir. So many fun things to do in the Central Cascade Range, not enough time. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Browns Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at Sunnyside County Park, and Calapooia River has a great

| | whitewater paddling spot nearby. This lake is so wonderful. A lake nearby is Renound Reservoir, and if the weather is nice, you can go for a hike along the Michigan Heights Trail. This lake is located in the wonderful Central Cascade Range. High temperatures at Browns Reservoir through the summer are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. the 30's to Browns Reservoir. In case you don’t mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Santiam River - South, and you could always explore Pleasant Valley. What a spot this is for outdoors people. During
your trip to Browns Reservoir you'll meet some folks from Albany-Lebanon for sure, and Ames Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth stopping at. Browns Reservoir sees pretty high levels of precipitation; November
is when you get the most rain here; July is the month with the least moisture. There's no way anybody can get bored here in the Central Cascade Range. After a long day outdoors Rodeway Inn Sublimity is a tremendous site to spend
a night or two. There's so much to do here at Browns Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Holiday Mobile Park is a great spot for that. There is a great hiking trail near Browns Reservoir called the Crabtree Lake Trail, and if you get bored of Browns Reservoir you could also take a look at close by Walker Reservoir.

 | Be mindful that the old pilings from the dam that was removed still exist and I believe present a hazard that must be scouted. If you run it before June there is likely no problem at all. Enjoy. The dam site is two miles upriver from Brownsville out Kirk Avenue and Northern Drive. I would hate to see your watercraft buggered up. It is a lovely river.... |
