Box Lake is a nice lake to visit. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Kalama River; you can always enjoy a lazy day on the beach at Goble Beach. Stay the night at Louis L Rasmussen RV Park, and in all probability you're looking for close by lakes? Sure, Swan Lake is just a very short distance away. Inn is a pleasant site to get some rest. This is a good region for folks who like lakes. Resting Lake is a lake in the vicinity, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Oak Meadows Inn is a fine place to spend a night or two.
Here at Box Lake you'll possibly meet some people from Longview-Kelso, and unsurprisingly Adams Creek flows through this area. A lot of rain falls at Box Lake; most of the rain falls through December; July is the month with the least
moisture. This lake is so wonderful. If you're hooked on cool geologic highlights, try Martin Bluff, and get your heart pumping on the delightful whitewater of Goble Creek. The Georges Peak Trail is a great hiking trail near Box Lake.

 | 15 miles away If you choose to run the canyon be advised about half way through in low water conditions there is a slot falls there narrow and fast once you get to the other side its all private property till you get to the Kelso dike . the only good take out for large boats is at the mouth of the river and on the other side of the cowlitz about 100 yards up stream. the cowlitz runs fast most of the time . there is also a large tree across the river about a mile below the gravel pit. It would be a sweeper in high water. I also find the milage on this chart to be wacko some close some not even in the target. its a nice float but that canyon is dangerous .... |
